What We Do
Why we exist
Dosan Ahn Chang Ho was a moral leader of modern Korea and a pioneer of the Korean American community. We honor that legacy and carry its humanitarian spirit forward.
But remembrance is not the end. Article 3 of our bylaws sets our purpose as a place of education — raising leaders who will serve Korea, the United States, and humanity.
Nine areas of work
Article 4 (1)
Sites and artifacts
Locating sites, collecting and preserving artifacts. Once scattered, they cannot be gathered again.

Research and publishing
Studying and disseminating Dosan’s thought; publishing biographies and scholarship.

Building the memorial
Building and running a memorial and education center in Riverside — our largest undertaking.

What Dosan spent his life on. He saw no other way than to raise people.

Advancing and protecting the rights of Korean Americans — work that began in Riverside in 1904.

Not for Koreans alone. Dosan’s humanism did not stop at ethnicity.

Who does the work
Seven standing divisions share the work: education and history, external relations, planning and media, next generation, relief and giving, arts and culture, and site stewardship.
Alongside them: the memorial building committee, plus standing committees on ethics, bylaws, and Junior Dosan. Every chair is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Board.
We need hands
Translation, interpreting, photography, archiving. We are shorter on hands than on funds.
